Overview of VPS

Visual Positioning Systems (VPS) allows you to build interactive experiences that take place in real world locations. Workflows for building VPS experiences typcially involve a number of stages:

  1. Mapping, where a virtual ‘digital twin’ of a space is generated by scanning the environment with a phone or other specialized equipment.
  2. Content creation, using a tool, like Mattercraft, to build an end user experience that leverages the map.
  3. Deployment, publishing the experience for end users to access.

Here’s some examples of experiences you could build with this technology:

  • An immersive experience that takes place on or around a landmark, such as King Kong climbing the Empire State Building.
  • A virtual meet & greet with an AI-driven character in the lobby of a commercial building.
  • An easter treasure hunt around a food market.
  • Point-to-point navigation at a venue, such as an office building, mall or other public space, that helps users find and move to points-of-interest.
  • Navigation and annotation of a large industrial space, improving workforce efficiency.
