Scanning a map
To get started creating a VPS project, you'll first need to sign up to Immersal and scan your environment to create a 3D map.
Getting Setup
- Sign up to the Immersal Developer Portal
Download the Immersal Mapper app:
Scanning a map
Scanning your environment using the Immersal Mapper app is quick and easy, and will allow Immersal to create a 3D map of your environment which you can later use to develop augmented reality environments using Mattercraft. To create a map:
- Open and sign in to the Immersal Mapper app on your mobile device
- Click on the plus icon located at the bottom center of the screen to create a new map
- Make sure that your camera is set to Manual Mode by clicking on the
M
in the top right corner - Walk around your environment, tapping on the camera button to take images which Immersal will create a map from
- Click on the tick icon (or done) and wait for your images to upload (you may have to leave your device unlocked and in the app during this upload process)
- Head into the Immersal Developer Portal, from here you should see your new map
- Wait for your map to process - when uploaded and ready, the 'Status' should say done
- Make a note of the map ID and your account token ID (developer token) as these are needed in Mattercraft
